Connectivity, a product of technology, has created the possibility of a complete interconnection between all human beings.

In my opinion, since the Renaissance, we have not seen a revolution like the one we are now experiencing, with individuals who have set the basis to create a dramatic changing period. 

Also, they have become cult figures for the new generations: I refer to Steve Jobs and Elon Musk.                                                                                                                 

What is also a very interesting phenomenon is that the US has strongly reclaimed its leadership creating these changes. Let’s see what this new scene consists of.

Digital currency and cryptocurrency

Digital currency is a means of exchange available in digital form, which allows instant resolution of financial obligations by electronic means including utilizing bank accounts with backing of the Central Banks and the Treasury. 

They are not physical coins nor bank notes, but after credited they can be transformed into “physical”, legal currency. All these financial operations are registered. Depending on the specific country and the applicable currency the costs can become quite confiscatory.                                                                                                               

Let us now consider cryptocurrency: this is a type of digital currency which utilizes cryptography as a means of exchange, secure and verifiable payments. What makes it so attractive? It is not controlled by any Central bank and consequently by no government. It follows its own rules and being subject to speculation its value is set by the market. 

Those who utilize this currency choose their level of risk. Its popularity is also a result of free thinkers who often use it as a form of activism, sometimes against destructive governments, and also who want to freely choose what to do with their funds, and with whom to relate. The transference of funds is recorded utilizing Distributed Ledger Technology.

Artificial Intelligence

The AI revolution is already with us in our daily lives, appliances like vacuum cleaners which follow instructions being in effect cleaning robots, iPhones with their helpers such as Siri and Alexa, utilizing intelligent software.

Apple’s name Siri is of Nordic roots, signifying “beautiful woman who leads to victory”. 

Amazon’s Alexa would have its origin in the Library of Alexandria. In reality they are devices which copy and carry out human work and activities. How far can they reach? Can they replace human beings? How will it affect the jobs picture? Let us see.

AI has already replaced jobs in the supply chains enabling quick responses with important financial benefits. Airplanes and cars thanks to AI operate with more precision. Because of AI the stage of autonomous self-driving cars, mostly electrical, has been reached.

Tesla is a pioneer in electrical automobiles and these have become more relevant because of climate change. Tesla is manufacturing their own Battery model 4680 for electric cars. The batteries store electric energy and are rechargeable. Major auto manufacturers have already established when they will stop manufacture of cars with internal combustion engines.                                                          

Now, regarding self-driving vehicles such as cars and trucks: There are already many manufacturers active in this field, Tesla, Toyota, General Motors, Intel, Ford, Baidu, Didi Chuxing, Huawei, Hyundai, Volkswagen, Daimler and Mercedes Benz allied with Bosch and the startup Aurora Innovation Inc. The principal challenges they encounter are regulatory.                                                       

With regards to Dojo, Tesla’s AI supercomputer, in terms of capacity it is fifth in the world and one of the first in private hands. Tesla’s CEO has announced the future Dojo Project which he said would provide a service to others offering neural network training.

Testa Bot is the name of the humanoid robot announced by Tesla’s Elon Musk on August 19th, 2021 projected for 2022. It will be completely manufactured by Tesla, hardware and software, and its potential capabilities have set off many alarms. 

How far couldl AI advance?                                                                                                                                                         

Will there be a type of humanoid consisting of robots possessing a superior artificial intelligence capable of replacing human beings in all their jobs? 

To the moon in 2025 

Nasa is working on a project to establish a base on the Moon with periodic human presence. For that they plan to have 3 space trips in the Orion capsule in the next years with human beings landing on the moon in 2025. However, budgets and delays are affecting their plans. The project is at present delayed and as currently planned would have a per launch cost of 2 billion US dollars.                                                                                                                                                                                

On the other hand, Starship, SpaceX’s space vehicle is designed so as to reach the Moon and to fulfil SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk’s wish to personally land on Mars, and if each flight is successful, it could reduce the cost by several zeroes.                                                                                                                                           

Starship is reusable and would transport tens of persons and a load of hundreds of tons of goods to assist the Space Station.

In addition, SpaceX’s launching rockets are economically low cost, being reusable as they return to Earth.                                                                                                                                                                             

All eyes are looking to Starship’s first space vessel with human beings onboard expected for the end of 2022. In their next missions SpaceX will test whether communication is possible from Space utilizing the Starlink Internet satellites.                                                                                                                           

As in “Star Trek”, we are fulfilling a dream.
